In 2017, I traveled to Fiji for our Fiji Pearls Trip! There are only two pearl farms in Fiji and we visited the smaller of the two, a pearl farm on the island of Taveuni. What an amazing time!
The oysters in Fiji are the same oysters in French Polynesia
Garden of Eden
On April 15th we will left LAX to Fiji, arriving in Nadi on April 17th and flying onward to the island of Taveuni. This is considered a Fiji must-see island and is called the modern day Garden of Eden. It is Fiji’s third largest island and is 168 square miles. Taveuni is covered in tropical rainforest, boasts a marine park and a national heritage park and offers amazing hiking and bird watching. It is a very popular diving and snorkeling destination with beautiful reefs.
We spent 5 nights at one of the nicest resorts on the island in individual huts on the coast. Sunrise, sunset, a night sky full of stars… we were immersed in beauty! We had the gorgeous ocean waters to relax in and access to the more modern day amenities such as wifi and hot water!
Yum!
All of our meals were prepared for us by an excellent Fijian chef.
So Much to Do
We had the option of diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing and hiking. We visited the Tavoro waterfalls, a 60-foot tumbling waterfall with a photo-ready pool of emerald water at the bottom. It is in the Bouma National Heritage Park which was beautiful in its own right! Rare orchids, prehistoric tree ferns, and diverse bird species.. We also traveled to an uninhabited island and snorkeled. And we relaxed! The only thing we will not have access to is t.v…. hooray!!
Pearls
And, of course, we had the pearls! We toured a Fijian pearl farm. This is, of course, was my favorite part! The pearls cultured here are amazing and incredibly varied in color with hues of gold and browns as well as blue and green tones. They are incredibly unique pearls and one of the smallest harvests in the world… there are around 25,000 Fijian cultured pearls harvested each year!
After a week of good food, amazing beauty and relaxation, we will flew home April 22nd and get into LAX around 1 in the afternoon.
The Details
Your trip price included flights from LAX to Nadi and onward to Taveuni, transfers to and from the airport, five nights accommodation, all meals while on Taveuni, and the tour of the pearl farm. All my guests needed was a swimsuit, walking shoes, a cover up and any money you might want to spend on gorgeous Fijian pearls. I also brought a good book and a little tension that I melted away during my morning beach yoga. The massage and the swim in the beautiful waters of Fiji didn’t hurt either!
We also tried Kava!!
The Journey
If you have heard about any of our previous trips, you know each year the trips are more and more amazing. They are meant for people who enjoy going off the beaten path and seeing something completely different. This trip was no different!
What a beautiful journey to Fiji! It was the perfect blend of relaxation and beauty. And what another amazing group!!
