Happy pearls, I like to call them! Are you familiar with one of the top songs right now? Happy is a song by Pharrell Williams (young gals, give me a pass while I explain this… we have an audience of many diverse women!) Happy. Here is the chorus:
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I’m happy
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do
It is a high energy song that has excited so many people and even has people making videos, worldwide, of themselves singing along to these Happy lyrics. A few days ago the singer, Pharrell Williams, was interviewed by Oprah. And, well, you know how Oprah loves to make her guests cry! She showed Pharrell a video montage of all of the people who had made videos of his song, and he burst out crying! He was so overwhelmed with gratitude and appreciation of his ability to break out with such an inspiring, happy song!
It was a moving interview but I was more captivated by his neckline than the tears rolling down his face. I was convinced he was wearing pearls! What are the chances, right? Here is a famous musician, a man, and he is wearing a pearl necklace. Could there be Happy Pearls to go along with Happy, the song? Is that possible? So, with the help of Tiffanie (orders and shipping extraordinaire for The Pearl Girls), we investigated!
In an April 11th interview, singer Pharrell Williams states that he prefers “jewelry with healing properties.” He says, “For ages, I got it wrong. I was competing with others because I wanted to draw attention to myself. But, in the same way as I realized I wanted to put peaceful things in my music, I decided I should only be wearing jewelry with medicinal and holistic properties.” He goes on to say, “I don’t love jewels for what they represent. I love them for what they express, because they’re who I am inside.”
And these jewels of choice? yellow diamonds, emeralds and pearls! That’s right, he really did have on pearls for his interview with Oprah.
And what else? Tiffanie found some images of Pharrell preforming in Australia..in his Happy Pearls!
We have always believed in women wearing pearls as (to steal his words!) a way to express who they are inside, and their connections to others. But, mean in pearls? Well, in Pharrell’s case, this is a trend we can get behind!
