Australia

$6,000

*What an amazing trip!!! Thanks to my honored guests who embarked on the Australia Pearls Journey! Stay tuned as we plan another adventure soon!!*

Sydney, too!

We traveled all the way to Australia, mined for opals and then headed on to the west coast and hunted for pearls. Oh! And two of us fit in time to cross the Sydney Harbor Bridge!

Pearls and opals… what a gorgeous combinations and a perfect addition to our Pearl Adventure trips! When I first planned my trip to Australia, I knew we had to go all the way to the west coast of Australia and then far north to get to the pearl farms. But that meant skipping over a large part of the country!

So, first I planned for us to stop in Sydney. Because, you know… what is a trip to Australia without this…

… a little visit to the Sydney Opera House!

Opal Mines

Well, I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied to do East coast to West coast and skip the richness of the interior of Australia. So, onward to the opal miles!

The opal mines of Australia are based around Coober Pedy, a hot desert area in the center of the country. What an awesome place! We actually slept in an old opal mine converted into  motel.

And most of the homes in the area were also underground!

We met an opal miner who took us to his opal mines for the long, hot and sort of unsatisfying work of mining for opals!

Okay, okay, I only say “unsatisfying” because we didn’t find any amazing opals!

Pearl Farm

Onward to Broome when we journeyed down the wildest dirty road in the world.. to the bluest water possible!
