We heard from a potential customer wanting to know it it is worth it to reknot faux pearls. What a great question!
Here’s what Kathy wanted to know about her fake pearls…
“I have 4 faux pearl necklaces that were my mothers. The clasps are broken on some; all need restringing. Is it worth it to repair faux pearls?”
Hi Kathy!
Thanks for reaching out! It is totally up to you whether you want to reknot your mamma’s faux pearls. I will tell you that over 50% of the work we do is imitation or faux pearls and beads. Our mammas and grandmammas had alot of fake pearls! That is simply the truth of the times. We certainly understand that sometimes sentimental value trumps any monetary value.
We are happy to restring old pearls, real or fake, simply because we know the value in our mamma’s pearls. All the times she wore those beautiful pearls and how special she felt wearing them. Sometimes there is a really awesome story behind those pearls! (A love affair, a devoted husband, a loving father, a mother’s cherished gift…)
Also, I find older faux pearls simply are not the same as the low cost craft store variety available to us now. Faux pearl manufacturers put alot of time and energy into making those old pearls beautiful. They were meant to be valuable in their own right, not to “trick” someone into thinking they were real. You know what I mean?
Anyway, we are happy to reknot faux pearls if you are interested. If not, no problem! Just let us know how we can best serve you!
Warmest Regards,
India
